Google Runs Statement On Belgian Court Ruling

By: Nathan Weinberg

Google has done two blog posts, one about the Belgian court's ruling on Google News, and one about Google's philosophy on content indexing.

Both are worthy reads, so check em out. Google does a great job presenting its side of the arguement, which kind of makes you wonder how the hell the court didn't side with them.

Lisa Barone asks, "If Belgium had sued Microsoft, would anyone have cared?", pointing out MS's $357 million fine from a European Commission that seems to have a vendetta against them. Not too many people spoke up after that, and those that did either agreed it was ridiculous, or said, "It's Microsoft, they deserve it". Google's got more people willing to stand up for them, right or wrong, than Microsoft ever will. I've been bashing the EC for months over this, but few others have joined in support.
