InfoSpace Sells Mobile Unit To Motricity...
By: Andy Beal 2007-10-16 ...Whats Left? It appears the TBJ was on the money with their prediction Durham-based Motricity would buy the mobile services... ...business from InfoSpace. Reuters reports "InfoSpace Inc, a provider of technology for Internet and mobile phone, said it agreed to sell its mobile services business to privately held Motricity for $135 million in cash, to focus on online search. InfoSpace said it expects to return a significant portion of the net proceeds from the sale to shareholders as a special cash distribution." So really, whats InfoSpace going to do now? Surely they cant expect to make a business out of their metacrawlers? What else does InfoSpace have left, now that theyve sold their mobile and directory businesses?
