Music reccomendation site The Filter has grabbed $5 million in new funding... ...led by an investment by Peter Gabriel. The Filter automatically creates playlists and provides recommendations based on iTunes or Window Media playlists. Still im alpha testing, personal start page creator Global Grind has gotten $3.5 million of the $4.5 million it is seeking with investors including Russell Simmons. Creating start pages are an increasingly competitive arena, but Global Grind hopes to compete with a Hip Hop focus - "Your Web Filtered Fresh".
